bleach does work on previously dyed hair, that is what most pros use to cut thought store bought crap, do your self a favor don't try to do this yourself get a professional to highlight your hair it will save you money in the long run, when you mess it up or turn it orange and you need us to fix it we will charge you more money, call a few salons and ask for a junior stylist to do it for you they are cheaper that more experienced stylists and they need to practice but they will do a better job on your lid that you will, it is not like you can see the back of your head and the good bleach is not sold to people without a hair stylists license.

All bleach lifts hair pigment as long as it's not some strange metallic hair dye you got somewhere. A cream bleach is gentlest, like Wella Blondor Creme Bleach in a tube.
